Alleppey Houseboat Price (2026): Real Rates & What's Included

What an Alleppey houseboat actually costs — day cruise and overnight, by season — plus the real tariff for Grand Nirvana, our own 3-bedroom boat. No inflated middle-man rates.

How much does an Alleppey houseboat cost?

An Alleppey houseboat typically costs from about ₹10,000 per night for a 1-bedroom boat, ₹13,000 for a 2-bedroom, and ₹18,000–36,000 for a premium 3-bedroom, depending on season. A day cruise (roughly 11am–5pm) runs about ₹10,000–15,000 for the whole boat. Rates peak from 15 December–15 January and around Diwali and festival holidays, and are lowest in the monsoon (June–September). We run our own 3-bedroom boat, so we can quote you a real, current rate for your dates.

Grand Nirvana — our 3-bedroom houseboat

We don't just book boats — we run one. Grand Nirvana is our own 3-bedroom houseboat, and it's one of the few on the backwaters with every paper properly in order: pollution certificate, survey and docking all current (survey valid to May 2027). That means real, honest pricing and a boat we stand behind — not a commission markup on whatever's free that day.

Day cruise vs overnight — which to book

Overnight (most popular)

Board at noon, cruise the afternoon, moor for a sunset and a fresh-cooked dinner, and wake up on the water. The full Kerala backwater experience — and what the bedrooms and this tariff are for.

From ₹18,000/night (our boat, off-season)

Day cruise (11am–5pm)

A half-day on the backwaters with lunch on board — good if you're short on time or on a tight budget, but you miss the sunset and sunrise that make the overnight special.

Around ₹13,000–15,000 (up to 10 guests)

What changes an Alleppey houseboat price

  • Season & dates

Peak (Oct–Mar) costs more than the monsoon months; the festive window (15 Dec–15 Jan, Diwali, big holidays) is the highest of all. The same boat can be 40–50% cheaper off-season.

  • Boat size & category

More bedrooms and upper-deck / luxury boats cost more. A 1-bedroom for a couple is far cheaper than a 3-bedroom for a family.

  • Overnight vs day cruise

A day cruise is cheaper but you miss the sunset, dinner and sunrise on the water. Overnight is what most people mean by "a Kerala houseboat".

  • Food & extras

Standard meals are usually included; special menus (large prawns, crab, extra courses) and add-ons like a candlelight dinner cost more.

Alleppey houseboat price — FAQs

How much is an Alleppey houseboat for one night?

From about ₹10,000 for a 1-bedroom, ₹13,000 for a 2-bedroom and ₹18,000–36,000 for a premium 3-bedroom, depending on season. Our own 3-bedroom boat is ₹18,000–20,000 off-season and up to ₹36,000 in the festive peak.

How much is a shikara ride in Alleppey?

A 2-hour shikara (small canoe boat) ride is about ₹1,500–2,000 in the off-season and ₹3,000–6,000 in peak season — a good cheaper option if you just want a couple of hours on the backwaters rather than a full houseboat.

What is included in the houseboat price?

For an overnight, all meals (welcome drink, lunch, evening tea and snacks, dinner and next-day breakfast), the private boat with its crew, and the cruise. AC in the bedrooms runs at night (9pm–6am), as boats moor and switch off engines overnight.

When is the cheapest time to book an Alleppey houseboat?

The monsoon and off-season (roughly April–September) are cheapest — often 40–50% below peak — and the backwaters are lush and quiet. The most expensive is 15 December–15 January and festival holidays.

Is a day cruise cheaper than an overnight houseboat?

Yes. A day cruise (about 11am–5pm) runs roughly ₹13,000–15,000 for up to 10 guests, versus ₹18,000+ for an overnight. But you miss the sunset, dinner and sunrise that make the overnight worth it.

Why book a houseboat through Kerala Escapes?

We run our own 3-bedroom boat, Grand Nirvana, with all papers current, and we book only boats we trust. You get a real rate for your dates, an honest recommendation for your group, and a human on WhatsApp before, during and after — not an inflated online listing.
